The movie Animal House. Bluto, played by John Belushi, was trying to rally the fraternity with a "did we give up when ..." speech. Bluto was not the most academically gifted student.

Ah. Thanks.
It's been way too long since I've seen that movie.
I should have figured it might be a reference to something else.

Maybe we need to enter a float in the Trump parade? I'll go buy 10,000 marbles.

Cruz and Kasich dropped out. Either the RNC does something horribly undemocratic, or Trump gets the nomination.

I hope so. I know there are people who believe differently here, but I can definitely stomach Clinton before Trump. One I know is a liar, the other is a liar and doesn't know what the fuck he's doing and doesn't care who he takes down in that.

If you ask me, the only thing stopping Clinton from becoming president is if she gets indicted on that Email Server thing.

Technically, they can call for a brokered convention on the basis that Trump is un-electable. And here is food for thought. Everyone is all excited that Trump is being elected by a "majority" in the primaries. Only about 15% of the eligible voters actually voted in the primaries. Which means that Trump actually has NOT been selected by a majority of the Republican voters. IOW Trump is riding the nomination on the votes of about 7-9% of all the eligible declared Republican voters. Think about that. ;)

More like "should never be within a mile of nuclear launch codes" in my mind for the second, but yes.

Some elections are defined by your interest in voting for someone, others by no way in hell for the other guy- you can guess which one it is for me this time. And I don't like it either, but that's not going to change a thing just now.

I'm not a Hillary fan, but this isn't even a close choice as far as I'm concerned. Its like the choice between carpet bombing kittens or having to take out the trash in the rain.

The short version is because I believe Hillary is a warmonger who will get us into more wars. I also happen to think she's a sociopath. Trump is a narcissistic blowhard, and I just don't find him as scary as she is.

Edited to add: I'm not actively voting for Trump, but I've been told if I, as an independent, vote for anyone other than the Democratic nominee, I am, by default, voting for Trump. I don't agree, but apparently, there's lots of stuff I don't agree with people on regarding politics.

Right now half the fun of Trump winning in the primaries is watching the GOP trying to figure out what to do with the Frankenstein they have created. Do they dare try to kill the monster? They spent so much time whipping up all this anger and now they have lost control.

Given the growing list of "mainstream" Republicans endorsing Trump, I suspect that for the most part they will embrace their monster, or at least go along with it. How the electorate reacts to that, particularly in more contested senate and house races, may be interesting to watch.

One thing I think that may be interesting to watch is how "presidential" Trump becomes, now that he has basically secured the nomination. On the one hand, if he continues to shoot his mouth off as he has, he will continue to alienate significant segments of the population (though some in those segments still seem to support him no matter what he says  ). On the other hand, if he becomes more presidential/mature/mainstream, he may alienate his supporters who like the big-mouthed asshole-pimp, and no one who he pissed off will suddenly believe he has changed his ways. If forced to guess, I would guess that he'll remain the same, but humans are an alien species to me <shrug>.

It really is like a movie. And, of course, if it was a movie, the reviewers would all pan it for being completely unrealistic and unbelievable.

Because the electorate would *never* be that malleable.

Interestingly a lot of the big money has refused to endorse Trump. NPR reported the other day that if you follow the $$ it is going towards Congressional races and other levels. And if you read the articles about the upcoming Republican convention it seems that the big corporate sponsors are not exactly enthusiastic either. Plus, Trump is pretty much acting like the narcissist he is about embracing the GOP. Pretty much what he claims is that he is a conservative but he is not a republican. I guess they should of thought of that before they let me run as a Republican.
