The anticipation of 40

The anticipation of 40

Postby pumpkinpi » Thu Jun 30, 2016 7:41 pm

So, Saturday is my 40th birthday*. I'm very excited--not just for the birth*day* part of it, but for the idea of being 40! If I think back to what I anticipated 40 would be like when I was a kid, hell, even what it would be like back when I was 30....I had no idea. For all the little BMR going on, I have to say life is pretty grand.

I realize that I'm not getting this idea out through my fingers the same way it's forming in my mind. Let's just say, I'm proud to be (almost) 40.

Now for the superficial part. I'm excited about what my present might be. A couple months ago MrPi referenced something like "it requires you not to be in Minnesota." A couple weeks ago my parents said "we know what your present is," and that's it's so secret that he hasn't told the kids. And then there's this. MrPi's brother turned 40 earlier this month, and his present to him is a trip to England! They are going to find a good time to go for a short jaunt and catch some football games. So, if he's getting his brother an international trip--what it the world could he be getting me? Oooh.....maybe it's not even on this world. Maybe it's a trip to the ISS!

I'll come back and share when I find out what it is!

Purely made up, but I always felt that once you reach age 40, you're entitled to unsolicited opinions based on life experience. Before that, not so much. Happy 40th!

It's lovely to see someone looking forward to being 40. If I can get my health back, I'll have the same attitude when I turn 50! :D

Yeah. I actually rather hated turning 40, it was definitely a mid-life crisis, at least on a small scale. Turning 50 on the other hand was fine... I don't know why the difference.

Turning 40 can be pretty awesome. I think that was right around the time I started telling people exactly what I thought. :P
