I never, ever want to go there again.

I can't even make the obvious, inappropriate jokes about this. The world is fucking insane.

Then I read it. Then I was open jawed and like W.T.M.F.F.?

Don't Mess With Texas.

Oy. I enjoyed my time at UT back in the 80's, but like Atlanta, Austin is an island of sanity in a sea of stupidity.

I almost feel as if they are just trying to constantly outdo whatever their previous stupidity was on such things as guns, civil rights, and abortions

There should be. Maybe we should bring back the Moron awards. :D

I mean BEJEEBUS! I am probably as close to "rabid Pro 2nd Amendment" as it gets without being totally irrational about it and even I think this is a really BAD idea. There is a line. And across that line is a world where personal safety and ensuring the safety of people who are vulnerable should trump my right to carry a gun. Even law enforcement people won't carry a gun into a psychiatric hospital or a jail/prison for a reason. Texas LEO experts should have been weighing in on this with not just a "NO" but a "FUCKING HELL NO!!". :o

No! No! No! The Holy Founders knew all. They foresaw all contingencies that we would face for the next 1000 years. The holy writ is immutable and cannot be changed in form, fact, intent, or spirit!

Whoa! You are even more intelligent and awesome than I thought! I honestly thought I was (maybe) the only person who would get the reference. :o

Sigma... Have you read Gordon R Dickson? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_R._Dickson

For most military types his Dorsai series is the classic read.

As a matter of fact I have. Never read his Dorsai series, but he wrote a 1961 Novella called Sleight of Wit. Which I've always thought it was pretty good, might have read a couple of other short stories, but he was never all that big round here :)
