In terms on the 'crazy going mainstream', I'd say it began with Newt vs Clinton. Contract with America, impeachment, etc. Bush I, Reagan, Nixon, LBJ, Kennedy (I exclude Ford and Carter from this) all had their moments but it was before the advent of the internet which changed everything both in terms of us finding out about the stupid stuff our politicians are doing and in terms of our politicians using the medium to broadcast lies and innuendo in hopes of garnering the stupid vote.

And wouldn't you have thought us getting this knowledge through the Internet would have made a difference? What a disappointment.

Yeah, my brother texted me a few days ago when he was visiting our parents to say my dad was very "Hillary clearly has Parkinsons and the problem is they are going to give her amphetamines for the debate, just like how they gave them to the Nazis and Japanese to fight and feel no pain." When my brother said he doesn't feel comfortable with/ think it's a good strategy for Republicans to use conspiracies as a main piece of their arguments, my dad's response was "how is it a conspiracy that she has Parkinsons?"

Imagine a world where all the children are taught that there are no truths which are fixed. That truth is relative.
