Mine is trained to wait patiently... unless I put the bowl down and leave the room for a minute.

That should be "how people with a cat do anything!"

That's why we have them. They make life so much fun.

Actually, I never have this problem because our cats never get people food, not even scraps. If you feed them from your plate, they will come to expect food from your plate.

@Swift

I do not feed my cats anything from my plate. I have enough trouble keeping Lacey away from hummus, and Cagney away from Lacey's food.

However, these cats are adopted, and unfortunately it looks like the last caretaker did feed them table scraps. Not much I can do about that, except keep shooing Lacey away from anything with garbanzos in it.

I must have weird cats, because, aside from milk out of the cereal bowl, none of my cats, over the thirty plus years I've had cats, want people food. As kittens, they've all enjoyed people food, but as they grow into adulthood, every single one of them have lost their desire for people food, though they're always grateful if I take a little piece and let them sniff it. I'm on my sixth cat now, and all of them sniff my food, then look at me like they feel sorry for me that I have to eat it. :lol:
