Don't buy Oculus Rift goggles

I'm guessing nobody here was interested anyway. But the company's founder is supporting Trump, by literally funding Internet trolls. Yes really.

Ah right, wholly owned by Facebook now. Nice. :( I wish US corporations would stop backing a guy whose entire political agenda is racism.

I'm sorry GJ, but that isn't true. He has a multi-pronged agenda, including promoting sexism, helping his buddy Vlad the Impaler, giving tax breaks to the rich.

Right then, his platform also includes sexism, classism, nativism, and vampirism. Hurray. :(

Exactly CM, what are they like?!

The best part of this thread was using 'pronged' in the same sentence as 'Vlad the Impaler'.

When I mentioned Vlad the Impaler, I was thinking more of this guy:

than this guy

though both would work.

I blame everything on a lack of caffeine.

The historic Vlad the Impaler is thought by many to be the model for the fictional Dracula.

I had to google who Peter Thiel is. As best as I can tell he's just a rich jerk, one of many, and isn't in the same league as either of the Vladimirs.

OK, he's a little weird (though I'm actually a little familiar with the animal studies they talk about). I assume however he is going to pay people for their young blood, not abduct them in the middle of the night and drain all the blood from their bodies.

Vlad the Impaler and Vladimir Putin killed people (or had people killed by their orders). Lots of people. Thiel isn't in the same conversation (and yes, I get the chain of thought and the Dracula reference now).

So did many American Presidents.
Obama, Bush, the other Bush etc.
Killing people when you are high in office is part of the package. It's how many and why you do it that makes the difference.

I see a difference between Putin and Obama. And no, I'm not going to explain it, or justify that opinion.

Most sane people do. There are those that are absolutists and to them, everyone that does something like that is the same.

So true. And very annoying. There is a school of thought that thinks that any killing is evil, that there's never any justification for it. But, you and I don't subscribe to that school. Though we've been lucky - and I do consider it lucky - that we've never been forced to kill anyone, I wholeheartedly agree that there are times where people need killing. I think what most of us struggle with is determining which ones...
