What I find a little curious is that she hasn't served in the military. My impression (please correct me if I am wrong) is that VA chiefs, particularly in recent decades, are veterans.
I'm surprised the Trump team couldn't find a veteran who would meet their ideological and kick-back requirements.

He actually seems to be rewarding people who supported him from the very beginning as well. Although I must admit that Elaine Cho and James Mattis both seem like qualified candidates for the positions he is nominating them for. Of course, he has 4500 appointments to make. At least a couple of them might actually turn out ok.

As someone on FB said, Palin was C-in-C of Alaska's National Guard. *
*not dissing NG, of course. Just the idea that a failed governor (she quit mid-term) has military experience by virtue of controlling the state's NG.
