Halloween

Postby pumpkinpi » Fri Oct 27, 2017 3:42 pm

I'm so excited about Halloween this year! I usually don't care for it so much. The kids love trick or treating, but the effort and money put into their costume seems to outweigh the use we get, since they only wear it for an hour or so in the dark. (Schools don't do dress up here.)

But this year we have two parties we are going to as a family in addition to trick or treating. And what's even better, MrPi is going to dress up for the first time since I've known him! We're going as sort of a duo. I can't wait to show you pictures.

Cool! Been interesting being back in North America for this one. Did pumpkin carving last night which is my favorite. :)

Not sure about a costume as yet, but do want to head somewhere where I can hand out candy (as I live in a building). Hopefully when I ask on FB someone who actually lives in a house will invite me over!

I always enjoyed seeing the trick-or-treaters coming around. alas, i'm out in the country now and the only time I've had any come to the house was when a neighbor's child had a sleepover. the neighbor asked for permission to bring them around. for several years I made my rounds as the Halloween fairy (black pointy hat, black dress and wings) to give candy to all of the good adults.

We live in a neighborhood that seems to be very full of kids. Several of our neighbors also do a lot of decorating and haunted garage type setups. We were able to convince our boy to actually go in a costume last year and really trick or treat. He loved it.

Except why is Peter Criss playing the bass? :P
Brings back great memories from about 30 years ago when Mrs. T and I and our two best friends went as KISS. Actually, we hosted the party. And in the middle of the party we air banded a little 4 song mini concert. I was Ace Frehley. I got my ear pierced for the costume. Ahh good times from days gone by.

He didn't have any drumsticks!

We tried hard to get the kids to round out the band, but they had their own ideas. Not that they don't like KISS--we play the band all the time. Rooster's favorite song is Christine 16. Later in her life when she realizes what that means, it will be like me really listening to the lyrics of Greased Lightning for the first time. I watched Grease over and over when I was 8 and had no idea!

Are you trying to get me to write naughty words?

With a four-speed on the floor, they'll be waiting at the door
You know that ain't no shit, we'll be getting lots of tit in Grease Lightning

You are supreme, the chicks'll cream for Greased lightning

With new pistons, plugs and shocks I can get off my rocks
You know that I ain't bragging, she's a real pussy wagon

The Kid texted Mrs. T that she was working on a "great wood chipper guy from Fargo" costume. Apparently she was going to dress up as Steve Buscemi's character as or after his co conspirator ran him through the chipper. (Oh sorry, spoilers. :P )
Then she discovered that none of her friends had seen the movie and the entire effort would be wasted. I'm not sure what she pivoted to, but I know she was excited to go to her first college Halloween party. 8-)

Got invited over to a colleague's place to hand out candy. And dog biscuits, because she has a dog who will also be dressed up tonight. :)

Seeing as she and the dog are gonna be dressed I've decided on a last second Halloween costume of alpine sweater, winter boots plus hat, and ski goggles. If anyone aks, I'm Picaboo Street, because that's the only famous brunette skier I can think of off the top of my head. Doubt it matters.

My niece front and center for the US Patent Office social media today.

I mean I know I'm biased, but she's just the cutest little thing ever. :D

I didn't know you could patent children. What new art is there? Isn't it obvious to someone skilled in the art?

I saw that on your FB; they are very cute.

This thread has me searching for the 1989 picture (printed on kodak paper) of the 4 of us in our KISS regalia. It'll be a time sponge, but it would be fun if I could find it.
