The annual tourney got underway on the 26th. Buffalo is playing host. Canada vs. USA just got underway. It is an outdoor game, being played in Orchard Park. A win for Canada will clinch them top spot in their group, having already beat Finland and Slovakia.

Quarter-finals day was yesterday. Czech. Rep. beat Finland, Canada beat Switzerland, Sweden beat Slovakia and US beat Russia. Semi-Finals tomorrow: Czech. Rep. vs. Canada and Sweden vs. US. Winners meet for Gold medal game, losers for Bronze on Friday.

Semi-Finals complete:
Sweden 4 USA 2. US on a power play, going in on goal 3 on 0, one of the three runs over the Swedish goalie, killing off the man advantage. Later, a span of just over two minutes sunk the US, Sweden scoring twice, while short handed, to go up 4-0.
Canada 7 Czech Rep. 2 - Czechs went up 1-0, Canada scored a number of goals after that. A certain song playing after goals being scored, got stuck in my head. Well not really song, but a few lines.
US plays Czech Rep. for bronze at 4 pm tomorrow. Canada plays Sweden for Gold at 8 pm. - Canada had one loss in round robin play, loss in a shoot-out to the US. Sweden has not lost a game, so far, in this tourney.

Congrats USA on the Bronze. Canada won Gold, one heck of a game against the Swedes. Canada went up 1-0, Swedes tied it with a short-handed goal. Canada went up 2-1 with 1m 40s remaining in the game, 3 - 1 on an empty net goal with 1 min. remaining. The 17th time Canada has won Gold.
Next year's tourney is in Vancouver/Victoria, B.C. The fun starts Dec. 26th!
