Astronomy on Tap Seattle Live Stream

Hi all,

pumpkinpi asked in BR if my talk at AAS will be live streamed. That one won't be, but I'm also doing Astronomy on Tap Thursday night which will be live streamed! It's only ten minutes, but I start the roster, and will be talking about what will happen if a supernova goes off in our galaxy and its light reaches us tonight.

Great presentation, great Q&A from the audience!

Despite having taught astronomy for 20 years now, I love listening to other people talk because I either learn something new or learn a new way to say something. I love your term "the end of the stellar story."

Also, before this I never made the connection as to why neutrinos from a supernova arrive before the light--that they barely interact with the matter in the star. It seems counter-intuitive, that things with matter can pass so easily, while light can't.

I had to read that three times. The first two I was like "Neutrinos move faster than light?"
