And I agree ACI is an awesome show. Sometimes they draw it out a little too long for dramatic purposes, but I find the forensics and the thorough investigations fascinating and amazing. There is a reason why air travel is so safe. It's the individuals at the NTSB and their counterparts around the world.

You know, I kinda figured that after you retired, you'd be on here a lot more. But nooooo. Seems the opposite.

I guess we now know what you did at work! :o

Yeah, we now know exactly what I did at work. I used to be on the computer pretty much online about 9 hours a day. Now it's less than an hour a week. The only time I get on is when someone bitches at me in a text that I haven't responded to an email. I just don't get on the machine.

I've been plenty busy helping my buddy and getting things done around here. We got a new dog the week before Thanksgiving, and that is taking up alot of time. He needs alot of attention. We've been spoiled with our old dog that sleeps 23.5 hours a day. :P

Dude is 4 and his family is moving to Hong Kong for work and they can't take him. :( We were very happy to help, and they were grateful he was coming to a good home with a big yard. But he's part Australian Shepard, he's very smart and he's wearing my @ss out.

I love him.

Sorry I've been missing. Hope things are going well for everyone.

I mentioned this in the weather thread. Does anyone else not like driving after dark? For me, it got much worse after cataract surgery on one eye. That eye now has a pronounced halo effect with lights, which makes in-town driving difficult, what with all the extraneous lights everywhere. With there being a lot of people who commute by bicycle in Bend, and it getting dark before the rush hour, I have all but given up driving between 4 and 6 at night, unless it's really close by (and I usually walk in that case anyway).

When I was younger, I had no issues with nighttime driving.

I don't like driving in general, does that count?

Like, I'm not saying it's in my top ten reasons I like being married to the guy, but wow is it awesome that F likes to drive and kind of took over almost all the driving lately in my life. Most of my driving these days is as the designated driver.

There are glasses you can get that will help. You may also want to be sure to keep your windshield very clean both outside and inside. Even if you are not a smoker there is a film that can build up on the inside of the windshield. If I am being honest I have noticed that driving at night is more challenging as I get older also.

So, I'm sitting by myself at a pub last night. As is my habit, I post a photo of my beer, proving to the world (or, at least, to my legions of followers) that I'm old enough to drink. I do that on Instagram.

I notice something weird happening on IG though. I start getting a flood of likes on my photos, some of the photos quite old. Dozens of likes, rapidly. Too rapidly for it to be a person individually 'liking' each photo. More like a bot doing it. All apparently from one person: our favorite South American FWISer. This morning, all the likes have disappeared and said favorite South American FWISer is no longer listed in my IG contacts.

So, what's up with that?

Only when I haven't done it for a while (as sunset gets earlier), or when I have to go long distances.

When I had Buster, it was early September. I didn't drive at night for about 3 months, so when I did the first time come December it was completely disorienting!

It's such a stereotype, but that's typical for guys in relationships. MrPi much prefers to drive. Recently I had a rental car while my car's in for repairs, and was told only I could drive it. We had to go to the airport, and I took that seriously. The whole way there he was cringing and telling me what to do! He assures me that it's not because he doesn't trust me, he just doesn't trust other drivers and doesn't like giving up control. So, on the way home, I let him drive. Due to the way he acts, I prefer that he drive too! (We also got a rental car on our vacation, and I asked to be added to the contract. This company said that because we're married I am automatically covered. So I figured it would be true for my rental.)

My dad is like that, to an even greater extent. He drove with me on my move from MD to MN. It was 2 20 hour days and he didn't let me drive (my own car) for any of it!

Interesting. Whenever we drive Brite's car I always ask her if she wants to drive. Sometimes she chooses to drive and sometimes she lets me adjust the drivers seat.

Oh he's convinced he's a better driver than me. Basically because he'll never drive more than 5mph over the limit, and I drive... 8mph over the limit! :o Well that and it's kind of a pain to change the seat settings back and forth between us for just a short drive.

Brite and I tease each other over the seat settings. I have to adjust it back before I can even get in the car when I drive hers. And I mess up the mirrors too! :P

I guess it's one of those things easy to tease a partner over. :)

My parents' car has automatic seat adjustments in it, like press a button and it will go what you set it to. We now have a minor goal in life to get a fancy enough car sometime to do the same.

I think that might be on the list for our next car too. Along with heated seats and Apple Play. I guess I will have to find something else to tease Brite about if that happens.

We do have both of those! (I guess you mean Car play?) Hardly ever use the heated seats. For Car Play, we have that because it was like a thousand dollars cheaper than having a built in GPS navigation system- the only real shame there is if you're relying on it while road tripping through the mountains and lose your signal, you can't change routes.
