I strongly dislike Lula for supporting Chavez and Company. But, at least he's sane. BOLSAnaro is a fucking nutjob. So, I am glad he lost.

Since this is Latin America we're talking about, in the end, what matters is what the Military will support. According to this analysis (arguably from February though) Even if BOLSAnaro tries something, it seems unlikely he will get anywhere

Good, re the military (though gods that's a shitty state of affairs). And yeah, better some unsavory allies than being a COVID-denying fascist lunatic. Brazil under Bolsonaro's "leadership" has had more COVID deaths per million people than the US.

Welcome to Latin America. And, from what I've read: It's quite common in a lot of other places as well.

The hardcore Bolsonaro supporters protesting against the election result are demanding a military intervention along the lines of the 1964 military coup.

Of course they are.

Believe me, I do. But I've gotten very used to it at this point. Remember, some of my local activism has been side by side with people who think Trotsky was an okay guy.

From a distance even Trotsky can be whitewashed.
