Well the expected Trump clown show is already in progress... Basically all his cabinet appointments are not only bigots but completely unqualified idiots.

Yeah I confess right now I just see the names in NY Times alerts on my phone, sip my coffee, and then move on with things. I'm already gonna waste far too much energy thinking about these idiots so don't wanna do it more now.

Reasonable. :|

I gotta see if I can get my doc to give me a backup supply of HRT meds. I did the instant menopause thing once before (early pandemic supply chain issues yay) and wouldn't fancy doing it again. At least my body won't detransition if HRT gets cut off though, and let's be real, trans women have been surviving on "maintenance doses" post op for a long time.

There are so many other issues though... MassHealth pays for more than just my HRT, and getting hired while trans is about to get a lot harder. And also I remember what the economy was like during the last Trump regime, and how hard it was to find jobs. This is going to suck, even if they don't manage to repeal the ACA this time.

Edit: speaking of early pandemic. Given what's going on with bird flu cases right now, and what Trump will definitely do to the CDC (again), we probably are going to get a second pandemic at some point during the new regime. The good news from what I've heard is that many anti-flu drugs still work on H5N1, and we already know how to make vaccines for it. But still... Don't be too blindsided if things go in the direction of 2020 again.

Hi Thump!

With regards to politics I think I will pursue my "don't worry about things you can't change" philosophy and avoid the news. Hopefully no nukes start flying.

How do I put this... there are a lot of things right now that might happen, and some are more likely than others. While this one certainly might, I'm not sure it's in the "more likely than not" category.

Like, better to focus right now on getting a new laptop or phone before tariffs kick in- I would be surprised if we don't get some of those in some form.

That last is already covered fortunately :) I got myself a cheap Lenovo during the summer, and my phone is a (cheap) Samsung so it won't be EOL for a while. As for my desktop, it is built with quality components and plenty of TLC, and I expect it to last at least a decade.
