So it appears that almost everyone here was the "Second or Third member of FWIS1."

Actually, I think FWIS 1 and Loresinger are getting conflated. brite was a member of Loresinger long before there ever was a FWIS. She took her time signing up at FWIS, but her signing up at FWIS 1 is kind of like us signing up at FWIS 3. I base my timeline on when Ikyoto started FWIS which is a different incarnation from Loresinger. Hell - I was here for months before I even realized there was a website attached to the old board, which I found hilarious, 'cause Phil always used to mention how there was a website attached to the Bad Astronomy board.

Not me either. Shortly after is about a month after it started in my case, but I started becoming more consistent about three months after.

I came over to have a look at FWIS right after Ikyoto posted on BABB that he had just created a site where we could talk a little "more freely." I think there was 2 forums and 2 or 3 threads. I had tried to get someone (maybe Doodler) to come over and finish an arguement they were having with tuffel, but it never happened. Back then Firefight was a game of who could hurl the coolest insults. Ikyoto always seemed to win.

Yeah I was in the "came over to look around first" kind of camp too, but it was some time later when I actively cared more about this one than BABB and it had its own community.

Question btw for those still involved in CQ as I believe it's called, does Phil Plait ever head over? I don't think he does, but if so when did he bow out?

It's still pretty fun that way if you have reason, but it's also a really good method for sorting out differences.

I can't for the life of me remember what got me to FWIS in the first place but I do remember the circumstance that got me hooked. BABB was down for a period and I needed my message board fix, so I spent more time here than usual. Of course the crazy wonderful people here had most to do with it, but if not for faulty internets I might not have gotten to know everyone at that time.
