Rock Hyrax Monthly

So... what are you reading these days? Anything good??

Rock Hyrax Monthly

Postby cid » Tue Sep 03, 2013 2:50 am

Some of you will get the reference...

In Mike Alexander's Advances in Modern Chemotherapy, there are several things of interest I found while rereading
the story the other night.

No spoilers, please, let's not give it all away...

Have you read the story?
Do you know who makes a surprise appearance?
Do you know who's conspicuous by their absence?

This oughtta be good...

They're not links, just questions...

To re-adumbrate:

In Mike Alexander's Advances in Modern Chemotherapy,

Have you read the story?
Do you know who makes a surprise appearance?
Do you know who's conspicuous by their absence?

Do you know who makes a surprise appearance? Umm ... I forgot.
Do you know who's conspicuous by their absence? Umm .... I forgot.

I suppose I need to read it again.

Somehow I missed this post first timearound.
I'll have to re-read it. I adored that story. It's one of those "I don't want to read it again because I don't want to spoil my memory of it being absolutely perfect." But now, I'll have to dig out my copy of it.

It was a very well written story. But I also found it pretty deeply disturbing, even before Mike died, and I can't read it again.

I figured out who makes a surprise appearance, but not who doesn't. Unless it's simply that person's significant other.

i'm quite certain that geonuc is incapable of saying anything in this context that would be that offensive.

Okay...time to let the feline exit the carrying/storage appurtenance...

Who's there:"...Laura Singer, a Wiccan from New York..." -- sound like anyone we know?

Who's not there, and was (humorously and good-naturedly) miffed by that fact: our own CodeMonkey...after she read the story, she asked Mike if she'd missed the part where he killed her off and what she'd done to deserve such a fate...

Ah, the glory of being a literati...

Ummm...I don't think that I'd be letting any secrets loose at this date were I to reveal that CM and Mike were married...hence her miffedness at being left
out of said story...

...unless you already knew that, and were putting me on, in which case "OK, ya got me..."... :scream: ... roll:

Thanks for that, but if what cid has posted is correct (and that was my guess), there's no way I could know how you felt about it.
