We were thinking of popping in there on our way out to Panama even though its a fair way out of our way and meet another FWISer but...
The customs, port clearance issues are retarded. Almost every place says that you should hire an agent to negotiate the paperwork and bureaucracy. Given the short time frame we're on and the distance involved it was touch and go but the crap we'd have to go through as well put an end to it. Stupid stupid politicians.

Yeah, the current suitor spent a decent amount of time in Venezuela during his South American travels. He pretty much confirmed what I suspected- lovely people and amazing nature, but holy crap it's hard to deal with going there (plus safety when there) so he's not sure if he'd do it again.

So basically in the category of "I'm not that crazy" for now. Sorry Sigma.

Lovely People? only to furriners, Venezuelans tend to be casually rude to each other. Not to mention incompetent and double faced, he obviously didn't spend enough time down here.
