Then brought them home for a fancy dinner. I was outside from about 10:00am-6:00pm. Then yesterday, during a break in The Kid's Vball tourney, I got an hour walk in the metro park across the street. We'd gotten about 6 inches Sat, then a fresh 2 early that morning, so I was trudging through about a foot of snow on some of the nature trails that they don't plow. Surprising hard work. Temps dropping from the 30's down to -15 or so. PPi, that's a 45 degress swing in less than 36 hours. It was so prett last night after the clouds blew off: Crystal clear, and peaceful...

We've gotten to a point where there are way too many cars on the road, with whatever ridiculous statistic of driver-only cars on the commute. We need to change our way of thinking and encourage people to consider whether their job is critical, or if they are better off staying off the roads so that essential staff have an easier drive in.
Good lord! My sister has a close acquaintance in Atlanta. They've been trying to get home (Marietta) from Atlanta since yesterday noon. And they haven't made it yet! Abandonned vehicles everywhere. They're keeping Home Depots open as shelters. Police going to schools to watch kids that couldn't get home, kids stuck on busses. Kids that made it home but their parents didn't.geonuc wrote:geonuc wrote:Well, looks like I'm stuck at home today and maybe a few days. Wow, I just tuned in to the local news reports. The interstates around here are starting to move slowly but there's thousands of abandoned cars. In some places it's like those movies where technology fails. Or the Walking Dead, except without zombies.

From what I've seen on the news, you are better off, than stuck on the roads. I'd rather have -5F in Cleveland than 15F (or even 32F) in Atlanta.pumpkinpi wrote:Yesterday as I had to drop MrPi off at work. It was -4000F so it was icy and slow going.
Wow, it is either very cold in the Twin Cities or there are too many zeros.

If it weren't for an outlier of a day a couple weeks ago when it got up to 40, the average temp for the whole month of January would probably be in the minuses.
