What's the matter, Chicken$hits? Code Monkey, it's the not recently used FWIS abbreviation for "A$ian Le$bian P0rn."
Back just a few years ago when we were all apparently in middle school, it came up in almost every thread.

I searched the FWIS2 archive and it goes back to 2007 there. FWIS1 is not searchable.

Mrs. T and The Kid picked up "Edge of 17" at Redbox and we watched Saturday night. Nothing really groundbreaking but an enjoyable movie. I seriously enjoyed Woody Harrelson's character. He cracked me up. Mrs. T...not so much.

Disney's "live action" version of Beauty and The Beast. Brite and I went to see in the theatre. It was really quite good. Nothing really new about the story. But, the transformation into live actors was fantastic. And it does feature Emma Watson. She does an awesome portrayal of Belle. Here is a really good trailerfor it.

Mrs. T and I were somewhat interested in seeing it. But it seemed The Kid was not. I hope to catch it sometime, but don't know when or where.

The live musical of Beauty and the Beast was fantastic! Just imagine everything they did in the movie, but not done in CGI. "Be Our Guest" was phenomenal.

I don't have much of a desire to see it, mostly because I enjoyed the musical so much.

I confess I wasn't as impressed with Casey Affleck as much as I was by all the other actors around him. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't bad at it, but I was just so blown away by the kid and his ex wife by comparison, and it seems a shame that neither of them got an Academy Award if Affleck did.

I also wonder how many tourists Manchester by the Sea will be getting this year, as I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the most adorable seaside New England towns I've seen! Was definitely thinking that something very bad would've happened for Affleck to run away from there...

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. From earlier in the thread...

I don't recall a movie that was so boring, depressing, and made me more anxious, all at the same time.

Has anyone seen the Scarlett Johansson Ghost in the Shell? I'm kind of surprised there has been no discussion, good or bad, about it either here or on CQ/BAUT. I'm curious about opinions, before I go pluck down some money.

I am planning to see it sooner or later. A person I know on FB gave it a pretty good review. It's someone whose opinion is worth considering. There has been some controversy about Scarlett Johansson playing a Japanese character. Apparently, the story the movie is based on is derived from a Japanese Anime that is very popular in Japan. And much like the Matt Damon movie "The Great Wall" there is wailing and gnashing of teeth about Hollywood casting white actors to be the Hero when there are so many worthy Asian actors to play the roles. From what I have heard the Great Wall has a lot of very good Asian actors who do having leading roles. But, to be honest, Hollywood isn't going to turn down casting Matt Damon in the movie because they know he will bring in a large audience. Follow the money is not just a way for the FBI to catch bad guys. ;)

The Kid also Red Boxed Jackie over the weekend. She started watching it without me, then we all joined in together and it turned out The Kid wasn't in the mood. Too intense. She had to return it last night. Mrs. T and I plan to watch it all the way through sometime soon. She became very intrigued even doing some online research.

Not just Japan. Ghost in the Shell is huge in the US, as well. I've seen various episodes several times.

Saw Ghost in the Shell today. I liked it and Scarlett Johansson did a great job, especially with affecting the weird gait of a cybernetic being.

However, I also like the anime version and anime in general, which is not for everyone. While the movie is considerably different than the anime GitS - not the least because anime is, well, animated and the movie isn't - it still has that anime feel to it with the storyline and action sequences.
