Cool! Are you gonna go knock on doors when the time comes then?

Funny thing, we already got and returned our census forms online (that was nice). They asked us at the time to say who would be living in the house on April 1. And... we are no longer living in the house as of a few weeks! I guess they don't mean "vacation" or whatever this counts as now.

Yeah, that's the job - knocking on doors. I'm now considering turning it down. Two reasons: I'm immune-compromised and over 60, and I think there's probably a whole lot of out-of-work restaurant folks around here that would appreciate the job.

Yeah. You are definitely in the "head to the hills and become a hermit" category.

Hey Rommie! A hundred years or so ago, you pointed out a website whereby it takes you to a Google street view of some place in the world and you try to guess where is by what you see. Do you remember the name of that site?

For those on FWIS who have children in the 8-12 y/o range, you might want to check out Adventure Academy. It's an online portal that makes learning fun by embedding it in games, puzzles, and challenges. It also has a social media type feature so kids can interact with other kids in a safe environment. If you have heard about ABC Mouse it's created by the same people who did that portal for pre-schoolers and kindergarteners.

I find that between doing as much work as I can and keeping the kids schooled and fed and engaged, my brain is just dead by about 3. Time for a nap.

Since construction is deemed an essential activity in Ohio, my buddy and I have been busy building "essential" decks. It gives people a place to go when they feel like killing a family member inside. ;)

Before or after they kill them? Asking for a friend.

Should I feel ashamed that I don't really know who John Prine is?

No, we like you anyway. My wife didn't know either.

But he is a legend and an indelible part of music history, folk history and American protest history.
I would suggest if you have some spare time to study a bit about him. He probably influenced someone you like.
I was very lucky to see John Prine and Leo Kottke in concert more than a few years ago. My Mom took me.

I do have to say I know Prine more as a writer than as a singer himself.

The first song I ever heard Bonnie Raitt sing was Angel From Montgomery. I was hooked on her and John Prine from that moment.

That song gets me teary every time I hear it no matter who performs it. I really like the Tedeschi Trucks Band renditions.

So one of my worst traits, I've realized, is that I hate to make decisions. I worry that they will have bad outcomes, either make people mad if I don't go along with what they want, or think poorly of me because I was wrong. How can I get over this?

Is there a recent history of anything like that happening?

It's mostly in my head. I need to work on *not* always thinking that, but be ready to deal with it if it happens.

Sounds like you have a good start in dealing with it, then.

It sounds hokey but have you tried rehearsing scenarios in which you make decisions. And they are good ones. Even if you rehearse it mentally it can actually reduce your anxiety over making "bad" decisions.
