That was great. I didn't realize Whedon could be so funny, or so thought-provoking.

Edit: I would also encourage people to check out the "dumb question" video. :)

I think I'm going to steal the last line. "I don't want to change the world, I just want to punch it up a little!" :)
Yes, I have a life. It's quite different from yours.

That's why he's my favorite writer in Hollywood. :D

Something bothered me about this, and I wasn't able to put my finger on what it was until today:

"There is no middle ground."

Well, yeah. If you don't believe that women should be treated like human beings, that's a problem.

OTOH it seems like there are several stripes of "women should be treated like human beings," ranging from libertarian to socialist, and from highly tolerant to e.g. claiming that transpeople are imposters and/or traitors to the cause. And some of these groups tend to denounce the others as not-really-true-feminists.

Do you see where I'm heading? Whedon's statement is true, but there's a lot it doesn't cover. It's not just a question of qualifying as feminist, it's now a question of which kind of feminist.

Right?

Or am I just being a Captain Obvious?

(I'm interested in hearing what the ladies have to say about this...)

Because I'm sitting in front of the tv, and am too lazy to go get the laptop... I'll mark this spot and come back later with a proper "Brite's Feminist Manifesto"... :D
