Something bothered me about this, and I wasn't able to put my finger on what it was until today:
"There is no middle ground."
Well, yeah. If you don't believe that women should be treated like human beings, that's a problem.
OTOH it seems like there are several stripes of "women should be treated like human beings," ranging from libertarian to socialist, and from highly tolerant to e.g. claiming that transpeople are imposters and/or traitors to the cause. And some of these groups tend to denounce the others as not-really-true-feminists.
Do you see where I'm heading? Whedon's statement is
true, but there's a lot it doesn't cover. It's not just a question of qualifying as feminist, it's now a question of which
kind of feminist.
Right?
Or am I just being a
Captain Obvious?(I'm interested in hearing what the ladies have to say about this...)
